An excerpt from Sam Cook’s song, “A Change is Gonna Come”, states:
It’s been a long
A long time coming
But I know a change gonna come
Oh, yes it will
While Sam Cook wrote the lyrics of the song, “A Change is Gonna Come,” in support of the Civil Rights Movement in 1964, the song is even more relevant in these times! Whether we are ready or not, a change is “gonna” come!
Often, you don’t have time to prepare for change! That’s the reason why we need to be in tune with what God is saying in His Word! Trust His Word when it says, “… the thoughts I have toward you are thoughts of good and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope! Jeremiah 29:11 (my paraphrase) If we are so busy with the daily grind, we often cannot hear. Or when we hear, we are too afraid to act! We are locked into our comfortable ways and don’t see the need to or want to embrace change!
Do you know that Abraham was 75 years when God told him to leave the familiarity of his country, relatives, his father’s home and go to a place God was going to show him! Wait a Sec! the place didn’t even have a name! However, Abraham obeyed and went out! The rest of the story we probably remember! Genesis 12. There was/is a blessing that comes with obedience!
Let’s continue to seek God’s Word concerning where He wants us to be or the assignment or adventure that lies ahead! Let us seek in faith. He’s promised us that He’ll teach us in the way we should go; He will instruct us and advise us! Psalm 32:8
While God may not speak audibly to us, He speaks to us through His Word! Are we listening? Because a change is “gonna” come! Are you ready for change, or are you stuck in a rut or your comfort zone?
“The only thing that is constant is change.” – Heraclitus
“Excellence does not come from believing in excellence, but from constant change, challenge, and improvement.”
