I align with Isaiah 10:27:
27 And it shall be in that day that the burden of [the Assyrian] shall depart from your shoulders, and his yoke from your neck. The yoke shall be destroyed because of fatness [which prevents it from going around your neck].
Let me start with the difference between “obliterate” or “destroy” To obliterate means is to remove altogether, leaving no trace, to wipe out. To destroy is to damage beyond use or repair! What is a yoke of bondage? A yoke is something that places a restraint on us! Think about the coupling on the oxen! That oxen could only go in the direction of the person who held the reins the yoke! Galatians 5:1 calls us free and reminds us that “For freedom, Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” What is the anointing? The anointing that we receive through the Holy Spirit does the following according to Luke 4:18:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed.
The anointing heals (James 5:16), destroys yokes! The anointing releases the power that destroys or removes the yoke holding oxen (or an individual in a chokehold)! When the anointing is applied, the yoke will be destroyed (Isaiah 10:27) because of the fat around the neck. In other words, the anointing releases that individual from every form of bondage); the anointing consecrates (or sets apart for God’s use) as we see in Exodus 40:9 and Leviticus 8:10!
I recently stumbled upon this sermon by Pastor Joel Osteen! Check it out: The Anointing Breaks the Yoke!
What does it mean to destroy the yoke? As we take this verse of Scripture in the context of Isaiah 10:27, we see that this verse of Scripture is a prophetic declaration of what God said to the children of Israel that He would do on their behalf. God warns them not to trust in or seek help from the Assyrians because Assyria had put its trust in its ability! We see Isaiah 10:12-14 (my paraphrase) Assyria’s lack of reverence for Yahweh! By Isaiah 10:33-34, God defeated the Assyrian army! It makes sense to read about Assyria’s pride and punishment (10:5-34).
Isaiah 10:26-28 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition
26 And the Lord of hosts shall stir up and brandish a scourge against them as when He smote Midian at the rock of Oreb; and as His rod was over the [Red] Sea, so shall He lift it up as He did in [the flight from] Egypt.
27 And it shall be in that day that the burden of [the Assyrian] shall depart from your shoulders, and his yoke from your neck. The yoke shall be destroyed because of fatness [which prevents it from going around your neck].
28 [The Assyrian with his army comes to Judah]. He arrives at Aiath; he passes through Migron; at Michmash he gets rid of his baggage [by storing it].
Let’s shed some light on the anointing!
“God in Christ above me, God in the Spirit within me. [. . .]
‘And even as it taught you, ye abide in Him.’ Here we have again the Holy Trinity: the Holy One, from whom the holy anointing comes; the Holy Spirit, who is Himself the anointing; and Christ, the Holy One of God, in whom the anointing teaches us to abide. [. . .]
The teaching of the Holy Spirit is in the heart first; man’s teaching in the mind. Let all our thinking ever lead us to cease from thought, and to open the heart and will to the Spirit to teach there in His own Divine way, deeper than thought and feeling. Unseen, within the veil, the Holy Spirit abideth. Be silent and still, believe and expect, and cling to Jesus.” ― Andrew Murray
This is my prayer:
“Anointing fall on me, Anointing fall on me, Let the power, Of the Holy Ghost, Fall on me, Anointing fall on me” Amen!
Ron Kenoly – Anointing Fall on Me (Live)
In summary, there is power in the Anointing that destroys or obliterates every yoke of bondage the enemy attempts to place on you or me!
“Believe that the anointing of God will find a way — even where you yourself don’t see that there is a way. The anointing of the Lord will show the way — whatever the day and age, situation or country you may be living in.”
