Remember, the Israelites saw themselves first as grasshoppers in their sight (Numbers 13:25-33)! The giants did not tell them they were grasshoppers! The Israelites sent to spy out the land of the promise made this statement about themselves!
How often have we said demeaning things about ourselves? How often have we told people we are not worthy of that promotion, that business opportunity, friendship, or partnership? Do you see yourself as a grasshopper? Do you have a “grasshopper mentality”?
How did the delegation sent to spy the land report their findings? They had a show and tell! They brought back fruit from the land they went to spy out! Then, they did an about-turn! They reverted to their “low self-esteem”! Ten of the spies had a negative report! Only Joshua and Caleb had a positive (good) report!
The power of words continues to resonate in this post! In an earlier post, I reminded us to watch our words! Why? Because Proverbs 13:3 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition states:
3 He who guards his mouth keeps his life, but he who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.
Similarly, Proverbs 18:21 out of the Amplified Bible, Classic Edition reminds us that:
21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life].
When you face the decision to either speak life or speak defeat or death into a situation, please ask the Holy Spirit to help you talk about life! What does it mean to talk about life in a situation? The word “life” comes from the Greek word, Zoe! Some people say, the Zoe Life of God:
The Greek word translated “life” in John 10:10b is “Zoe,” which means the “God-kind of life.” The God-kind of life is what Jesus came to give us! When we speak anything contrary to that kind of life, we short-change ourselves! In other words, we decide to live beneath the promises of God encapsulated in His Word!
10 The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).
As we continue to renew our minds with the word of God daily, we will become more aware of the words that come out of our mouths! We will begin to transform our speech and only speak faith-filled words out of our mouths!
So, I ask you, do you have a grasshopper mentality or a victor’s mentality? Will you make that decision today to say only what God’s word saying about you?
