Maybe it is just me, but I cringe when I hear words like, “l’m brain dead’, I’m not going to make it’, you get the gist! You probably have heard people say the following: “I don’t mean it”!
Let me type my response to the statement above: “How about you say exactly what you mean, and let’s call it a day!”
As I go into details on the power of the spoken word, I want to remind you of what the Bible says:
Proverbs 18:21 The Message
21 Words kill, words give life;
they’re either poison or fruit—you choose.
Proverbs 4:23 Modern English Version
23 Keep your heart with all diligence,
for out of it are the issues of life.
The introduction to this post, brings me to the subject of the power of words! Listen to yourself, what are you saying? Do you want what you are saying to come to pass in your life? If the answer to the latter question is an emphatic “No”, then, please, WATCH YOUR MOUTH and the words you utter!
In life, you can only control your words! Why? Found this tweet about how you can choose your response(s) to the positive or negative words spoken to you! Profound? I think so!
Words are like a container—words matter. Words carry power. Words come to pass. Again, watch your mouth and your utterances! Once a container is opened up and the words pour out, those words are out there!
Here is a great quote about the power of words:
“Because even the smallest of words can be the ones to hurt you, or save you.” ― Natsuki Takaya
Proverbs 13:3 Modern English Version
3 He who guards his mouth preserves his life,
but he who opens wide his lips will have destruction.
Although I wrote this post with a Christian bent, I want this post to have a wider appeal! I want us to understand the value and importance of what we speak “into the universe”!
“Words mean more than what is set down on paper. It takes the human voice to infuse them with shades of deeper meaning.”
― Maya Angelou
In case you did not know, Scientific studies reveal that positive and negative words not only affect us on a deep psychological level, but they have a significant impact on the outcome of our lives? Well, they do! There is whole neuroscience behind the power of positive and negative words!
Therefore, for healing to take place, we must speak words of faith! See my blog post below on the power of words spoken by someone in the Bible who was desperate for the healing of her daughter!
In sum, my prayer for you is taken out of the Book of Psalms, Chapter 19, verse 14, Amplified Bible, Classic Edition:
14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my [firm, impenetrable] Rock and my Redeemer.
